Manitowoc County EMS Association Meeting Minutes                                                                                       5/28/2025

The 5/28/2025 meeting of the Manitowoc County EMS Association was called to order at 1911 by the president.    The meeting is held in person and virtually.  The educational portion of the meeting was held first with a presentation by Dr. Martens on In Flight Emergencies & EMS;   One hour of education and the meeting proper began at 2004.

 

The meeting was then called to order and roll call was taken.  A quorum was present. 

 

Secretary’s Report:  The Secretary’s report was presented as printed.  Two minor corrections were noted a) a misspelled word in the agency attendance and wrong agency assignment for a member.  Correction noted.  A motion was then made by Kellnersville and seconded by Collins to accept the corrected report.  Motion carried.    

 

Treasurer’s Report:  Ending Balances:  Checking:  $2556.50.  Savings:  $6040.47.  A motion was made to accept the report as presented by Francis Creek and seconded by Reedsville.   Motion was carried. 

 

Old Business:

1.       Contact List:  The contact list updates were passed around.  Items may be sent to the webmaster for other updates.  This includes email addresses, phone number, & contact information. 

2.       Committee Reports:

a.       Emergency Government/Dispatch/Radio:  Again, welcome to Melisssa Neilson the new deputy Director.  There are tower issues which remain in Cleveland.  Rhonda is still looking for mutual aid agreements.  Some discussion on going over some road names for difficult roads.

b.       Manitowoc County Sheriff Department:  no updates

c.       Protocols:  We are working to get all protocols online.

d.      Disaster/Training:  There will be a county disaster drill on Friday, Sept. 19 in the evening and lasting 2 hours in Cleveland and it will be a weather-related event involving 30 patients.  Will use EM Track.  Working with trying to use EM Track in agencies and hospitals to see if it works for us and the triage tag system.    

e.       RTF:  Working on more RTF training.    Discussion on when to start triage tags.  More to come.

f.        Education/Training:  Follow the website, HERC, & RTAC emails for educational opportunities.  Many seminars via HERC are coming up, Theda Clark, and Froedtert.

g.       Medical Directors:  Dr. Martens reports that the scope of practice updates is done and there are no major changes.  There is 1 addition for nasal epi administration for anaphylaxis in a cheaper product with a longer shelf life (NEFFY).  (repeated information; nothing new)

h.      MABAS:  There is no Ifern for MABAS.  Listen to dispatch for directions.  All cards are up to date.    

i.        NEW RTAC/HERC:   Encouraged to go to websites and look at training, education, and funding.  This is where the money comes from.  Meetings are coming up.  Can go in person or online.  See web sites for grants and updates.

j.        Lakeshore Technical College:   No update

3.       County Mutual Aid Agreements:  These need to be returned to the Emergency Government ASAP. 

4.       Nominating Committee:  For 2026 we will need president and treasurer candidates.  Lori Krueger is interested in running again for treasurer.  Lori and Deb and someone else will be on the committee. 

5.       Telecommunicators Week:  Baskets were sent with thanks from the entire organization and enjoyed by dispatch.

New Business:

1.       Orange Cross:  Discussion on the coming to or joining the organization.  It was discussed that they certainly could attend the meetings but really don’t meet membership requirements. 

2.       Cleveland Rehab:  Dr. Martens spoke on a new rehab center coming to Cleveland called Clear Sky Rehab.  They are working with the organization with the first responders and ambulances for some SOG’s.  They will utilize the 911 system.

3.       Lighthouse Recovery:  Discussion about the cards that we had to give out to patients who overdose in the past.  The group seems interested in getting more.  Debbie to look into this.

4.       EM Track:  Discussion about putting a link to EM Track on our website.  Mark will look into such a possibility.

5.       Next meeting:  Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at Two Creeks at 1900.   

A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Collins and seconded by St. Nazianz. The meeting was adjourned at 2034.
