Manitowoc County EMS Association Meeting Minutes 1/22/2025

The 1/21/2025 meeting of the Manitowoc County EMS Association was called to order at 1915 by the president. (There were connectivity issues). The meeting is held in person and virtually. The educational portion of the meeting was held first with a presentation by ill Manis, Manitowoc County Rescue Task Force Coordinator reviewing our last Manitowoc County Active Shooter Drill. Many items learned and many opportunities to improve noted especially in staging and communications which are very different than our current Manitowoc County Disaster plan/protocol.
The meeting was then called to order and roll call was taken. A quorum was present.
Secretary's Report: The Secretary's report was presented as printed. A correction is needed in the email address of Mike Eron. With that correction, a motion was made by Kellnersville and seconded by Branch. Motion carried.
Treasurer's Report: Ending Balances: Checking: $1512.57. Savings: $7429.50. A motion was made to accept the report as presented by Two Rivers and seconded by Reedsville. Motion was carried.
1. Contact List: The contact list updates were passed around. Items may be sent to the webmaster for other updates. This includes email addresses, phone number, & contact information. Mike Eron added his email with michaeleron@manitowoccountywi.Rov. Note correction of this.
a. Emergency Government/Dispatch/Radio: No report submitted; no attendance again.
b. Manitowoc County Sheriff Department: Mike has no updates other than to remind all of us to drive with due regard and appropriate for the weather.
c. Protocols: Are still in progress with Dr. Sarah working on them. Valders are done.
d. Disaster/Training: There is a county wide disaster drill coming on 2/12/25 at EOC. Looking for volunteers. There will also be a county disaster drill on Friday, Sept. 19 in the evening and lasting 2 hours in Cleveland and it will be a weather-related event involving 30 patients. More to come.
e. RTF: Review in January.
f. Education/Training: Follow the website, HERC, & RTAC emails for educational opportunities. Many seminars via HERC are coming up.
g. Medical Directors: Nothing new.
h. MABAS: EMABAS is working. Emabas20.com to download the app.
i. NEW RTAC/HERC: Encouraged to go to websites and look at trainings, education, and funding. This is where the money comes from. Meetings are coming up. Can go in person or online. See web sites for grants and updates.
j. Lakeshore Technical College: No update
3. County Mutual Aid Agreements: 4 are complete and back. Everyone needs to get this done asap.
4. By-laws: More bylaw discussion on making some changes to the bylaws to include every two years voting on, the vice president not having to move into the president position, and VP elected on even years, president, secretary, and treasurer elected on odd years. Also, discussion on paying the positions of president $100 or $50 annually, vice president $50, secretary and treasurer $150 annually. Multiple prices discussed. A motion was then made by Two Rivers as follows: The possible compensation/gift for the board members will be considered yearly and acted on by the group. Further, suggestions of $150 for president, secretary, and treasurer and $50 for vice president were given as references with consideration to the vice president based on work needed/done that year. This motion was seconded by Kellnersville and then carried. It will be put into the bylaw changes for next month.
New Business:
1. Elections: Nominations for vice president were again opened. Currently Curt Biely is running. There were no more nominations presented. A motion by Two Rivers was made to close nominations and have the secretary cast a unanimous ballot for Curt Biely for Vice president. A second by St. Nazianz was made and the motion was called and all were in favor; none opposed. Congratulations to Curt.
Next nominations for secretary were opened and nominations taken. The current candidate is Deb Holschbach. There were no other nominations and a motion to close nominations and have the secretary cast a unanimous ballot for Deb for secretary. A second to the motion came from Kellnersville and the motion was called and carried with all in favor and none opposed. Congratulations to Deb.
2. Nominating Committee: Will be made in March for elections this fall.
3. Upcoming events: St. Nazianz has a fish boil coming up on March 14 from 1500-1930.
4. Peer Support: Discussion on how to get a hold of peer support for a CISD. Many new people don't know how to reach them, and this was explained. Suggestion to have someone come to the next meeting and present was made.
5. Next meeting: Wednesday, March 26 at Silver Creek.
A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Newton and seconded by Cleveland. The meeting was adjourned at 1930.
