Manitowoc County EMS Association Meeting Minutes                                  5/25/2022

The May 25, 2022, meeting of the Manitowoc County EMS Association was called to order at 1900 by the president.

The meeting is held in person as well as virtually.

 

Education was held first with Del Zuleger presenting for Eagle III on helicopter utilization and landing zones. Education was 1.0 hour.

 

The meeting proper was called to order and roll call taken. A quorum was present.

 

Secretary’s Report:  The secretary’s report was read and presented to the group. Reedsville made a motion to accept the minutes and seconded by Kellnersville.

 

Treasurer’s Report:  Ending balances:  Checking:  $2904.76       Savings:  $5258.17. A motion to accept the treasurer’s report as presented was made by Branch and seconded by Reedsville. 2022 dues were mailed.

 

Old Business:

1. Contact List:  The contact list updates were passed around. Items may be sent to the webmaster for other updates.

2. Committee Reports:

a.       Emergency Government/Dispatch/Radio: Reminder that of the RTF grants ran over. The helmet prices went up. Firefighters Association promised $400 if the EMS Association gave $400. Travis has some old monitor 5 pagers if someone wants them. They are free. The AARPA grants are still open. Travis will help if needed. A lot of radio interference lately. Be patient. Wait for dispatch, pages, etc. Reminder to use County fire working channel 2. County ID tags are available by contacting Kayla. There is a Haz-Mat exercise in Manitowoc on 5-26-22. Baskets were delivered to dispatch.

  1. Finance:  Nothing new to report.
  2. Protocols:  Look at and learn the new protocols as appropriate for your agency. The first responders in the county are switching medical directors with Dr. Nelson retiring. Discussion on possible changes to EMR’s having to do a National Registry. Encouraged to listen and give feedback to the state.
  3. Disaster 2022:  Done
  4. Education:  The HERC has a lot of free education available. Watch your emails or go to the site.
  5. LTC:  Encouraged to call Ryan S. at LTC with any needs.
  6. Medical director:  EMR’s to get new medical directors. They shared options and ideas. COVID is dialing back a little, but masking is still recommended for calls. They are working on an EMS education/video library for training.
  7. MABAS:  Ifern is still the primary frequency if possible.
  8. RTAC/HERC:  useful information on both sites

New Business:

  1. Funds for Rescue Task Force:  as listed before the helmets went up in cost and the Rescue Task Force is asking for $400 from County EMS and then County Fire will match. Reedsville made a motion to give $400 to the task force and Two Creeks seconded the motion. No opposition and the motion passed.
  2. Narcan & Epi:  Discussion of buying in bulk between agencies discussed and is an option if people are interested.
  3. The next meeting will be Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at Silver Creek Fire Station.

 

A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Reedsville and seconded by Maribel. Meeting adjourned at 2027.
