Manitowoc County EMS Association Meeting Minutes                                  5-23-2018

Host:  Newton First Responders

 

The May 23, 2018 meeting of the Manitowoc County EMS Association was called to order at 1900.  The educational presentation was not done except for a recap from T. Becker and D. Holschbach on the RTAC and the HERC.  What they are, what their purpose is, how the effect EMS, and how to learn more.

 

Roll call was taken.  A quorum was not present. 

The secretary’s report was presented but not voted on at this time.    

 

The treasurer’s report was given and ending balances were given as follows:

Checking:         $3930.75                                  

Savings:           $5055.27                                      

All 2017 statements are back and 2018 are coming in nicely.  No motion at this time.

 

Old Business: 

1.       Contact numbers:  Passed for updates. 

2.       Committee reports:

a.       Radio:  The radio went down again and there were issues.  Dispatch can over-ride some communication issues.  We should try using channel 2.  There will be a meeting with Emergency Government to discuss the radio frequency and their future.  To include a discussion on inter-operability and intra-operability.

b.       Medical Directors:   Dr. Nelson is doing some looking into protocols. 

c.       Protocols:  Looking at formats and evidence based protocols. 

d.       Finance:  Nothing at this time.

e.       Disaster:   Mishicot has volunteered for a 2018 disaster drill with some type of active shooter or larger format.  The tentative date is 10/252/18 in the afternoon.

f.         Education and training:   Reminded of resources as needed for agencies.

g.       LTC:  There is a bridge class from EMR to EMT.  Check it out.

h.       Dispatch:  Dispatch loved their treat baskets for Telecommunications week.  Three new people were hired.  The new dispatch program is working better.  Travis Waack is the new director of JDC and emergency government.

i.         Website:  Mark Knier will continue to be our webmaster. 

j.         JDC Steering Committee:   No meeting.

k.       MABAS:  June 13 is the date for card updates.  EMS should have life safety cards.

l.         EMS Day 2018:  Had a poor showing of EMS agencies but the people who came were amazing.  Poor weather so no helicopters.

m.     RTAC:  Theresa gave some updates including many legislative updates including 911 dispatch CPR, Bill 97, Stop the bleed, and license renewals for 3 years.  There is a falls program being revised again.

n.       HERC:  Debbie gave some updates.  All information is being emailed.

 

New Business

1.       Next meeting:  July 25 at Silver Creek at 1900.

 

A motion to adjourn was made by Valders and seconded by Reedsville.  Motion carried.
