Manitowoc County EMS Association Meeting Minutes                                  4-13-2016

Host:  St. Nazianz First Responders

 

The April 13, 2016 meeting of the Manitowoc County EMS Association was called to order at 1900.  The scheduled March meeting was cancelled due to weather.  The educational speaker was:   David Murak from the Two Rivers Fire Department who spoke on Community Outreach programs in Two Rivers and ways to serve your community.  Dave Seebart from the Wisconsin HERC also spoke on what the HERC is and what it can do for Manitowoc County.  1900-2000

 

The meeting was resumed after education.  Roll call was taken.  A quorum was not present. 

 

The secretary’s report was presented but not voted on.    

 

The treasurer’s report was given and ending balances were given as follows:

Checking:         $2132.42          

Savings:           $5028.18          

All 2015 dues are in.  Dues statements went out for 2016. 

 

Old Business: 

1.       Contact numbers:  Passed for updates. 

2.       Elections:  Will remain open until we have a quorum.  No new nominations.

3.       Committee reports:

a.       Radio:  The interference should be better due to changes.  Pre-alerts are not in the protocols.

b.       Medical Directors:  no updates

c.       Protocols:  We are looking at active shooter guidelines. 

d.       Finance:  nothing at this time

e.       Disaster:  The active shooter drill later this year will be our drill.  There is a tornado drill tomorrow.  There will be a tabletop soon.

f.         Education and training:  If you need something, ask and help will be found.  There was discussion about teleconferencing.  LTC is very willing to work with any agency.

g.       LTC:  Has options for your educational needs.

h.       Dispatch:  Another new hire.  Upgrading of ProQA is happening.  Tele communicators Week happened and dispatch got great treat baskets.  More use of the “working channel” would be appreciated.

i.         Website:  Mark Knier will continue to be our webmaster.

j.         JDC:  Texting 911 is now active.  JDC meetings are in January, April, July, November on the first Wednesday of the month.  Theresa Becker is our representative.

k.       MABAS:  EMS should have a life safety card in place.

l.         EMS Week:  Set for May 21.  Mark to work with Copps again.  The group decided to do the food stand also. 

 

New Business

 

1.       Next meeting:  Two Rivers and Two Creeks are switching locations for the next meeting as Two Creeks wants outside education in May. 

2.       Attendance: Discussion on getting better attendance.  Ideas shared.

3.       RTAC:  Deb and Theresa are active participants at the RTAC.  We are also working on a grant request which was reported to the group.  More as it evolves.

4.       Nominations:  The offices of Treasurer and Vice president are open.  Tom Krajnik accepted a nomination for treasurer and Theresa Becker accepted a nomination for VP.  Ben Jeanty also accepted a nomination for vice-president.  Offices will remain open. 

5.       AED Cable:  no discussion on this tonight.  Previous discussion was not to reimburse for this but no “official” vote was able to be passed.

6.       Defib from Heart A Rama:  Nothing was heard back after we put in our request.

7.       Radio Ad for EMS Week:  There was minimal interest and we were going to see about cost.

 

 

A motion to adjourn was made by Two Rivers and seconded by Manitowoc.
