Manitowoc County EMS Association Meeting Minutes                               1-28-15

Host:  Kiel Ambulance

 

The January, 2015 meeting of the Manitowoc County EMS Association was called to order at 1900.  The educational speaker was as follows:  Chief Dave Funkhouser of the Kiel Police Department on Dealing with the Media.  Dave Funkhouser spoke for 45 minutes.  Chief Funkhouser offered to come and talk to your agency or share notes.

 

The meeting was resumed.  Roll call was taken.  A quorum was present

 

The Secretary’s report was distributed and copies given.  A motion to accept the November 2014 report as written was made by St. Nazianz and seconded by Two Rivers.  Motion carried.

 

The Treasurer’s report was given and ending balances were given as follows: 

Checking:      $2136.85

Savings:        $5007.46

2014 statements outstanding:  Silver Creek

The 2015 statements will be available at the March 2015 meeting. 

A motion was made by Kellnersville to accept the Treasurer’s report as presented and Two Creeks seconded the motion.  Motion carried.

 

Old Business:

            1.  Dispatch:  New hires are being trained. 

            2.  Protocols:  Dr. Nelson advised that Two Rivers has added Ketamine and that                 Manitowoc and Valders will also be adding it to their protocols.  Selective

                 spinal immobilization has also been added by Two Rivers.  Dr. Marten

                 reported that they have selective spinal immobilization in Sheboygan County. 

                 The Ebola policy has also been added. 

            3.  Finance:  Nothing new.

            4.  Disaster:

                        a.  Table Top Exercise:   Nothing new.

            5.  Education and Training:  Case studies at Aurora BayCare and St. Vincent’s

                 Hospital noted.

            6.  Medical Director:  Dr. Nelson noted that the Manitowoc Fire Department has

                 now purchased six video laryngoscopes.  Dr. Martin noted that Plymouth

                 Ambulance has merged with Orange Cross Ambulance and will be known as

                 “Orange Cross Ambulance”.  Kiel Police Department carries Narcan and the

     First Responder Groups are encouraged to carry Narcan and glucometers   

     particularly in the outlying departments. 

7.  Radio:  If you are having any problems with having certain information

     Included in the Rip/Run report contact the Dispatch supervisors.

8.  MABAS – Recent MABAS Incident in Cleveland Area:  Review of recent

     MABAS fire call in the Cleveland area.  Chief Todd Blaser reminded everyone

     to limit communication on County Fire and to use appropriate frequencies.

 

New Business

  March 27, 2015 – Mishicot

  April 3, 2015 – Reedsville

  April 17, 2015 – City of Two Rivers

  May 9, 2015 – Kellnersville Spring

 

Attendance:  Mishicot, Kellnersville, St. Nazianz, Two Creeks, Kiel, Two Rivers, Valders and Manitowoc.  Medical Directors – Nelson and Marten.

 

Motion to adjourn by Manitowoc and seconded by Two Rivers.  Motion carried.
