Manitowoc County EMS Association Meeting Minutes                                5/22/2013

Host:  Two Creeks Medical Responders

 

The May 2013 meeting of the Manitowoc County EMS Association was called to order at 1900 by Vice President Becker.  The educational speakers were Mark & Glen Johanek from Breezy Acres who spoke on agricultural equipment, safety, rescue vs. recovery and EMS emergencies.  1900-2000.

 

The meeting was resumed.  Roll call was taken.  A quorum was present.  The secretary’s report was distributed and copies given.   A motion was made to accept the secretary’s report was made by Newton and seconded by St. Nazianz.      

 

The treasurer’s report was given and ending balances were given as follows:

Checking:         $642.98             New CD Balance:  $5198.03

Savings:           $959.43             All 2012 dues are in and 2013 statements were sent out.                         

A motion was made by Newton to accept the treasurer’s report as presented and Collins seconded the motion.  Motion carried.   

 

Old Business: 

1.       Contact numbers:  Passed for updates. 

2.       Committee reports:

a.       Radio: Steering committee met that morning and they had question of sending ambulances all the time or not when people ask for only one agency.  Protocol and policy both clearly state that an ambulance AND the appropriate medical first responders are to be dispatched.  Dispatch does not give out quotes, promise costs, or any other questions but just send out the services as needed. 

b.       Medical Director:  Presented a thank you to everyone for their work throughout the year.  Happy EMS Week. 

c.       Protocols:  Need to be redone soon. 

d.       Finance:  Nothing new

e.       Disaster:  A committee formed of Kevin Siehr., Theresa Becker., Bill /Todd/Gregg, Mark Busse, and Deb Holschbach will work on updating the Mtwc. County Disaster Plan.  Silver Creek is considering the fall disaster drill. 

f.        Education and training:  Always available if needed by groups.  Theda Clark has case reviews 8/13 at Valders.  Other suggestions were Bill Jones or Dave Taylor for other meetings.      

g.       LTC:  There will be a summer EMT and first responder class.  Sign up early.

h.       Dispatch:  Has some updates coming in July.  There is supposed to be automatic dispatch of fire to any automobile accident.  This is how the task sheets are written but it’s not always happening.  Dispatched is fully staffed and finishing orientation for two people as of now.  JDC did get fruit/sausage/chocolate baskets for dispatch week. 

i.         Mutual Aid Agreements: no updates

j.          Website:  Mark Knier will continue to be our webmaster.

k.        Pink Heals:  Pink Heals is coming to Mishicot on 7/21/13.  Mark your calendars!

l.         JDC Survey:  Should be coming soon per Chief Manis.  He asked if we had any specific questions we would like asked.  It will be about 10 questions long.

3.        MABAS:  A group will be getting together and make some sample cards appropriate for each agency.  FAQ sheet shared.  MABAS is going to be changing while we work out the best options for everyone.

4.       EMS Week:  Is going to be at Copps.  Mishicot Theresa is coordinating with Deb H.  Manitowoc, Silver Creek, Mishicot, Two Rivers, Theda Star, Cleveland all came.  The event went well.

5.       Ambulance Donation:  no further action

6.       Defib/trainer:  no further action

 

 

New Business

1.       Grants:  Discussion on the group applying for grants.

 

2.       Next meeting: 7/24/13 at 7:00 p.m. at Two Rivers. 

 

A motion to adjourn was made by Manitowoc and Newton seconded.  Meeting adjourned.
