Manitowoc County EMS Association Meeting Minutes                                1/23/2013

Host:  Silver Creek First Responders

The January 2013 meeting of the Manitowoc County EMS Association was called to order at 1900 by Vice President Becker.  The educational speaker was Lt. Andy Cohlburn, Mtwc. County Sheriff’s Department and Curt Green, Mtwc. County Coroner.  They spoke on crime scenes, patient death notification, and EMS involvement.  1900-2000.

 

The meeting was resumed.  Roll call was taken.  A quorum was present.  The secretary’s report was distributed and copies given.   A motion was made to accept the secretary’s report was made by Manitowoc and seconded by St. Nazianz.      

 

The treasurer’s report was given and ending balances were given as follows:

Checking:         $379.58             New CD Balance:  $5182.49

Savings:           $959.12             Collins is the only unit without their 2012 dues paid.                                

A motion was made by Two Rivers to accept the treasurer’s report as presented and Newton seconded the motion.  Motion carried.   

 

Old Business: 

1.       Contact numbers:  Passed for updates. 

2.       Committee reports:

a.       Radio: The dead spots are all documented.  We continue to have feedback.  We are waiting for the full boost of power.  There is a new tower going in Liberty.  Bill Jones still wants to know about bad reception places.

b.       Medical Director: Working on some ride a longs.  There are also some protocols being updated.

c.       Protocols:  Protocol committee to revisit a few protocols soon such as when not to start CPR in trauma and calling codes.  There was discussion on law enforcement transporting patients vs. ambulances.  Ongoing.

d.       Finance:  Nothing new

e.       Disaster:  New triage guidelines are out and distributed.

f.        Education and training:  Always available if needed by groups.    

g.       LTC:  New flyers were handed out for spring classes.  

h.       Dispatch:  Fully staffed again.  The documentation of first portable on scene still is an issue. 

i.         Mutual Aid Agreements: no updates

j.          Website:  Mark Knier will continue to be our webmaster.   

 

New Business

1.       Pink Heals:  Pink Heals is coming to Mishicot on 7/21/13.  Mark your calendars!

2.       Defibrillators:  Newton passed out a copy of quotes they got which they shared with others if they are looking for new defibrillators.

3.       EMS Conference:  Asking if units want a seminar this fall.  To bring back feedback.

4.       JDC Survey:  Should be coming soon per Chief Manis. 

5.       Next meeting: 3/27/13 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Nazianz. 

 

A motion to adjourn was made by Two Rivers and Reedsville seconded.  Meeting adjourned.
