Manitowoc County EMS Association Meeting Minutes                                3/28/12

The March 2012 meeting of the Manitowoc County EMS Association was called to order at 1900 by President Siehr.  The educational speaker was Kerry Campbell speaking on the Cedar Grove Mass Casualty Incident and EMS Response/Incident. Time 1900-2000

 

The meeting was resumed.  Roll call was taken.  A quorum was present.  The secretary’s report was distributed and copies given.  A motion was made to accept the secretary’s report was made by Manitowoc and seconded by Two Rivers.      

 

The treasurer’s report was given and ending balances were given as follows:

Checking:         $342.10                         New CD Balance:  $5178.77

Savings:           $958.24                         Agencies with outstanding dues for 2011:  Maribel

A motion was made by Newton to accept the treasurer’s report as presented was made and Manitowoc seconded the motion.  Motion carried.   

 

Old Business: 

1.       Contact numbers:  Passed for updates. 

2.       Committee reports:

a.       Radio: Per Chief Manis the project goes on according to schedule.  Jeff Beyer is working on the towers and frequencies meeting all of the FCC regulations.  Narrow banding changes should begin in July or August.

b.       Medical Director:  Dr. Nelson reports that first responders in Manitowoc County will all follow the same QA protocols for all doctors.  Anytime an advanced skill is used a copy of the report will be forwarded to Deb Holschbach for QA.  Teaching/critiques will be done by Anna Lentz and Deb Holschbach in coordination with medical directors.  County wide we will be starting some quality assurance on topics like chest pain, trauma, etc.  More to come.

c.       Protocols:  Finished and were sent to the state for approval. 

d.       Finance:  The tax ID # will be worked into this area with Knier and Krajnik.  Ongoing.

e.       Disaster:  Saturday, May 5 at Cleveland.  Time around 9am.  Let Dawn know # of people participating from your agency.

f.        Education and training:  Always available if needed by groups. 

g.      LTC:  Question of critical care refreshers from LTC.  Not at the time was the answer given.  More to come.  Ryan needs class requests ASAP for the next semester.  Updates were given on the changes in hours coming up with classes.

h.      Dispatch: Any issues with delayed EMS calls should be directed to Theresa from Mishicot.

i.        Mutual Aid Agreements:  One remains outstanding yet.

j.         Website:  Mark Knier will continue to be our webmaster.  He gave an update.   

3.       Seminar:  Discussion on if people want a seminar and they consensus is that they do.  More information to follow.  The group is looking at October.  A committee is loosely formed.  

New Business

  1. EMS Week:  Discussion on what we want to do.  President Siehr wants to do new, exciting things.  He will coordinate this.  There will be no presentation at Copps in Manitowoc.  Theresa is checking into Two Rivers perhaps.  Kevin to coordinate.
  2. Dispatchers Week:  Discussion if we are going to again send baskets to dispatch for their week.  Motion by Manitowoc and second by Mishicot to continue this well appreciated idea.  Deb Holschbach to coordinate.  Theresa and someone from Manitowoc to go along to deliver on the Wednesday of the week.  April 11.
  3. MABAS:  Todd Blaser talked a little bit about MABAS and what it is.  Fire is working very hard on this and it is now time for EMS to come on line also.  More information to come.  The MABAS cards will be found on line on our ems site and on the county of Manitowoc’s.
  4. Manitowoc County Emergency Preparedness Committee:   They state they need 6-10 women to be on their committee to work with decon.  They will be paid.  Anyone interested should contact Gary Shavlik.  
  5. Next meeting: 5/23/12 at Manitowoc at Station 1l.

 

A motion to adjourn was made by Manitowoc and Two Rivers seconded.  Meeting adjourned.
