Manitowoc County EMS Association Meeting Minutes                                       5/26/10

Host:  Silver Creek First Responders

The May 2010 meeting of the Manitowoc County EMS Association was called to order at 1900 by President Knier.  The educational speaker was Travis Waack “Disaster Service Director for Manitowoc, Calumet, & Sheboygan Areas from the Red Cross speaking on the services the Red Cross can offer EMS. 

Roll call was taken.  A quorum was present.

The secretary’s report was distributed and copies given.  A motion to accept the secretary’s report as printed was made by Two Rivers and seconded by Newton.  Report accepted.    

 The treasurer’s report was given and ending balances were given as follows:

Checking:         $550.62             New CD Balance:  $5146.33 projected balance

Savings:           $14455.25        

 A motion was made by St. Nazianz to accept the treasurer’s report as presented and Silver Creek seconded it.  Motion carried. 

 Old Business: 

1.       Tax ID #:  In progress.  There are some things we need to finish like Articles of Incorporation.

2.       EMS Information Binders:  Jay will be completing these in the fall winter area.  Ongoing.

3.       Contact numbers:  Again passed for updates. 

4.       Committee reports:

a.       Dispatch:  They are forming a steering committee to look at the ProQA update coming.  They are also looking at protocols for stroke.  They continue to review calls.  They continue with the orientation for the new hire.

b.       Protocols:  CCR protocol is at the state.  Dr. Nelson & Vogel Schwartz are OK with EMS providers starting this. 

c.   Finance:   Nothing new.

d.   Disaster:  Our MABAS committee made to work on this including Knier, Siehr, Holschbach, and Krajnik & or Theresa from Mishicot.   

e.   Education and training:  2010 seminar going well.  E-licensing is up and running.  Ryan from LTC handed out the new training schedules and you can call him anytime with questions.    

f.    Medical Director:  Nothing

g.   Radio:   The radio project is going along nicely.  Chief Manis reports that the building project may be done in November or December with the whole process going live in spring.

5.       Common Terminology:  ongoing—Siehr to work on.

6.       Physician Advisory Updates:  Ongoing.

7.       By-laws:  Ongoing with adding in the policies to our by-laws.  Committee:  Siehr, Holschbach, Knier.

8.       Mutual Aid Agreement:  Departments should get signed copies are returned to the secretary of the                        Manitowoc County EMS Association.

9.       EMS Day @ Copps:  Went very well despite one helicopter going out on a flight and not appearing.  Many ideas for next year but the new location went well.

10.   Telecommunicators Week:  A thank you note from the dispatchers was shared stating they loved the treats we sent them. 

11.   Defib for First Responders:  In process with Deb Holschbach & Anna Lentz taking over this.

 New Business

1.       Coroner:  The coroner or a representative will be coming to our next meeting to talk about crime scenes and coroner scenes.

2.       Next meeting:  7/28/10 hosted by St. Nazianz.

3.       Upcoming Events:

a)       Airport Days:  First weekend of June (Saturday and Sunday)

b)       Reedsville Picnic:  June 25, 26, and 27

c)       Silver Creek Fish Boil:  June 24

d)       Branch Picnic:  June 19

A motion to adjourn was made by Two Rivers and Manitowoc seconded.  Meeting adjourned.

Next meeting is July 28, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Nazianz Fire Station
